Chairman Greg James has announced that Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director John McArthur has advised the Board that he will step aside from his role in January 2026 and transition into an advisory position with the company and its shareholders moving forward.
“Under John’s leadership, One Rail Australia has grown into one of the country’s most reliable rail freight service providers,” Mr James said. “The Board sincerely thanks John for his exceptional tenure, his dedication to our people and customers, and his commitment to advancing Australia’s rail industry.”
Mr James also announced the appointment of Andrew Betts as One Rail Australia’s new Chief Executive Officer. Currently Chief Operating Officer, Andrew has been a driving force behind the company’s growth and has built strong relationships with customers and industry partners.
“Andrew’s appointment upholds One Rail Australia’s commitment to fostering career progression from within. We look forward to working with him as he leads the company into the future,” Mr James said.
John and Andrew will partner closely over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and operational continuity, with Andrew officially assuming the CEO role on 5th January 2026. This transition reinforces One Rail Australia’s long-term stability, customer focus, and commitment to being a trusted leader in the Australian rail freight sector.
