About the Role
One Rail Australia is seeking a Wagon Maintainer to join the Newcastle Rollingstock Maintenance team and support the growing maintenance operation in New South Wales. The Rollingstock Maintainer will play a key role in guaranteeing the ongoing operations of ORA’s Rollingstock fleet and become part of One Rail Australia’s rapidly growing presence in the Newcastle.

This is a shift work roster, with overtime available as required. This role offers a competitive hourly rate, and the successful applicant will join a supportive and safety conscious team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned service work on wagons or locomotives.
  • Perform unplanned work on wagons or locomotives associated with failures and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform other tasks as required including, facilities maintenance, fueling, sanding, rollingstock washing and provisioning.
  • Perform mechanical and/or electrical work on all ORA rollingstock and overhaul of key components. Including bogies, brake cylinders and slack adjusters.  
  • Use of computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Undertake, adhere to, and manage isolation / safety lockout procedures.
  • Perform shift work including rostered afternoon, night and weekend shifts.
  • Be available for on-call support for after hours breakdown response.
  • Movement of rollingstock by means of a shunt tractor or capstan.
  • Wagon preventative maintenance, repairs and out of course maintenance
  • Field maintenance of Rollingstock including derailment recovery
  • Servicing and repairs on Wagons
  • Driving/operation field service vehicles and mobile lifting equipment
  • Wagon movements in the maintenance area as required using fixed and mobile equipment.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential

  • Trade Qualified or demonstrated substantial Trade Assistant experience in similar role.
  • Experience in heavy industry.
  • Motor Vehicle Licence (Class C)

Desirable

  • Forklift (LF) Licence.
  • Truck (HR) Licence.
  • Locomotive or Wagon maintenance experience.
