About the Role

Lead the regional maintenance team through effective management at the One Rail Australia (ORA) NSW Maintenance Facility to deliver a safe, reliable, cost-effective execution of maintenance of rollingstock and on-call support for ORA operations in the Hunter Valley supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development, implementation and management of life cycle maintenance strategies for locomotives, wagons and facilities maintenance.
  • Develop systems and processes to support employees to carry out duties as per their Position Descriptions.
  • Develop systems and process to ensure all business activities and employees within the regional maintenance team comply with all legislative/statutory obligations, company policies, standards and procedures.
  • Develop systems and processes to ensure costs are managed within budget and all components tracked correctly for work undertaken at ORA’s maintenance facility.
  • Develop systems and processes to ensure improved asset reliability through implementation of endorsed reliability initiatives to reduce rollingstock failures under ORA’s change management processes.
  • Be available as a point of escalation for on-call employees supporting infield maintenance activities.
  • Liaise directly with operations and or other customers on rollingstock availability and restrictions.
  • Develop systems and processes to support unplanned work on wagons and locomotives at workshop and infield.
  • Develop systems and process to support facilities maintenance, DIL fueling, rollingstock washing and provisioning.
  • Develop systems and process to ensure isolation / safety lockout procedures are safe and effective.
  • Lead, mentor and coach team members to further their understanding of context, purpose and expectations.
  • Lead the team to ensure effect execution of planned maintenance activities for locomotive and wagon maintenance, facilities maintenance and capital works within the workshop.
  • Develop systems and processes to ensure accurate planning of work, inventory management, reporting and updating of information of the CMMS (AMS).
  • Ensure onboarding of supplier and contractors conforms to ORA’s procurement policies, procedures and expectations from Executive Leadership.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, Science, Management or Business
  • Motor Vehicle Licence (Class C)

Experience

  • Management of Asset Maintenance in Rail, Mining, Maritime, Transport or Production environments.
  • Development of Systems and Processes that improved safety, efficiency, productivity and performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership of cultural development and improvement of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a safety regulated environment requiring understanding of safety/legal requirements.
  • Well-developed business acumen demonstrated in areas of procurement and contractor management.
  • Management of a Cost Centre (OPEX and CAPEX) greater than $20M per annum.
  • Management of performance against metrics with demonstrated visible reporting and trending.
  • Demonstrated leadership and engagement of teams in a unionised work environment.
