About the Role:
The Application Analyst manages the technology application portfolio across the One Rail landscape including project management, application governance, application enhancements and lifecycle management. This includes identifying and leading the delivery of synergies and improvements across the application portfolio whilst supporting day to day operations as well as driving and owning application specific strategic goals and initiatives.

The One Rail Application Analyst will be highly skilled and a client-focused role responsible for implementing and responding to technology requirements and issues to ensure a high service level is maintained. The Application Analyst is responsible for providing a wide range of application services and coordination to support geographically dispersed teams by undertaking service desk and field support activities.

In addition to the above, your key responsibilities will also include:

  • Responsible and authorised for developing, implementing and monitoring corrective action in respect to rail safety activities and the control of any life cycle phase of the railway required to ensure that the ovserved deficiencies or unsatisfactory rail safety conditions are corrected.
  • Manage regular meetings and workshops with stakeholders throughout One Rail to understand the specific goals of the overall organisation and individual business units and translate identified needs into technology requirements/design for IT/Vendor development, fostering relationships to move towards a single point of contact relationship.
  • Provide critical support for the Operations business to maintain IT Applications in the delivery of a safe and efficient Rail Operation.
  • Lead projects and inter-departmental project teams, including budgeted, timeline and quality assurance from initiation (business case, funding, project initiation and technical implementation) to successful completion and review to establish commercial viability.
  • Manage application lifecycle including the management of cases, requests, and deployment of releases, patches, requests and customisations alongside application governance and security to ensure risks of data loss are managed. 
  • Provide Level 1 and 2 operational support and troubleshooting for existing applications systems alongside onboarding and training for new and existing users. 
  • Monitor application system performance, diagnose problems and trends to inform user resolutions, and document the outcomes.
  • Partner with the business as a trusted advisor to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide accurate advice about technical issues and solutions, specify document business requirements and manage projects for new or existing solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 3-4 years commercial experience in supporting core business applications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Statistics or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of current IT frameworks and business technology (e.g. ITIL)
  • Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications with a track record of career growth and skill development
  • Proven experience in leading customer delivery and governance of managed IT services
  • Experience monitoring the provision of services including adherence to SLAs and delivery obligations, facilitating the resolution of escalated issues, promoting collaborative relationships, and collaborating to accurately identify and manage emerging issues and challenges affecting delivery.

Experience:

  • Has led a project delivery team that has successfully delivered a major business solution (applications systems into production)
  • Exposure to Workday HR and Finance
  • Experience in supporting Asset Management Systems
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office 365 product suite

Essential:

  • Strong understanding and demonstration of an IT systems environment and system development lifecycle
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills
  • Complex problem solving with the ability to diagnose & address application issues and communicate these with stakeholders/users.
  • Strong technical development and documentation skills
  • High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently and to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working directly with different levels of end users
  • Strong prioritisation and leadership skills to meet agreed targets, timeframes, and stakeholder expectations in an operational environment.
  • Ability to lead in multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight schedules.
